The very bad guy in the movie is a new milkman in his early 20's, who comes by Lewellan's house one day and happens to see her singing a bit of her favorite song with her trademark moves, except this time while lying on her bed. He is the one who eventually rapes Lewel

This year, the nominees run the gamut from new series, like Mr. Robot and Casual, to familiar faces, like Game of Thrones and Orange is the New Black . What makes the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards so interesting (and all Golden Globe ceremonies, really) are the kinds of shows and performances that have been nominated. At this point it sounds like she is optimistic about the afterlife while her friend is very negative and keeps bringing up counterpoints to make it sound like she could be somehow trapped in some way after death. As it turns out, the friend turns out to be a therapist who is trying to convince Nancy that death is not an escape or free

The love and dedication that Malalai has for her people and to the idea of freedom is obvious and geniune, and that is what has contributed to her popularity and status as a folk hero among her people. She is obviously over 80 years old and claims to be 100 although she probably doesn't really know her own age. Her belief in Malalai is touching and humbling: She has seen much in her life and seeing her hope that Malalai can actually change things that have been the status quo for so long is very moving and shows the faith the people have in

All in all, the event was solid for an industry awards presentation but to the viewers at home, it wasn't that exciting or up beat.
There are some great shows on this list, but none of them managed to make quite as big a splash as Mr. Robot did in its first season. The series debuted at SXSW, winning the audience award, and still it took its sweet time seeping into viewers' collective conscience. This was a true slow-burn series that eventually became one of the biggest conversations in television in 2015. A phenomenon in many ways, but one that feels deserving of the ti

I don't want to give too much more away, but if you're a fan of zombie movies, Fido really was a ton of fun. There was much laughter in the theater throughout the film, and the humor has a very sincere quality to it. It's all played straight, but the bizarreness of the situations make them hysterical. We have everything from a next door neighbor whose relationship with his young female zombie is questionable at best, to Timmy sincerely apologizing to someone who is now a zombie as he does them in with a shovel by full moon. The real gut-buster (if you'll pardon the pun) however was a scene pulled right out of the old "Lassie" TV show.

If you missed our live-chat for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards this evening, don't fret, we have the winners and a brief recap of the ceremony for you. There were quite a few shots of Lautner sitting near the front when he wasn't nominated for anything (like we saw with Rob Pattinson last year). He has a better seat than those who were nominated or even winners of other categor

Martin Scorsese's Hugo led the way with eleven nominations, stacking up many a nod in the technical categories, while Michel Hazanavicius' The Artist was close behind with ten total. The obvious answer is "nominate films people have seen," but that is a little disingenuous to the acclaimed movies that did get nominated. Whiplash , Boyhood , Birdman , and The Grand Budapest Hotel may not have become mainstream hits, but they all have their passionate supporters among cinephiles and received a boost in awareness thanks to the Oscar label. Maybe if studios made these awards contenders more readily available , they'd attract a wider audie

It remains to be seen if this is something that will plague the Oscars for the next handful of years or is merely a blip on the radar. Looking ahead to 2015's award season (I know, bear with me...), there are offerings from filmmakers including Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, and David O. Russell among others that could prove to be more lucrative endeavors than the crop we just got. The Academy will spend the next 12 months figuring out how to retool their telecast, but the odds of a ratings boost are in their fa

The stage at the back of the audience was utilized for the geeky cool actors to present the ten best pic nominees throughout the evening. Ever since expanding their top category to include a maximum of 10 films back in 2009, the Academy has done a solid job at ensuring that commercially successful works are recognized. But hey, Chris Nolan wasn't even nominated for Inception so without further

Again, this one is a tough call, but Bloom is so good in her performance in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend that it's harder to argue against her than anyone else. The movie explores themes of community, creativity, and the love of cin

This is a lot like the Mad Men situation. Both actresses consistently bring their A-game to a pair of television shows that are incredibly fun to watch, even if they tend to stray from being great television from time to time. Honestly, if either woman were to win for this category it would feel like a win for television in general.
