It was through sheer luck that I got in, trading my ticket for the very wierd horror-comedy Teeth for the opportunity to see this film. That was a good call. :-) My bad call was to leave while the director and cast were still on stage to see the absolutely dreadful Weapons , which I'll be reviewing here as w<br><br> <br>If you missed our live-chat for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards this evening, don’t fret, we have the winners and a brief recap of the ceremony for you. In short, Inception took home the technical categories, The Social Network took a few, notably for its score and The King's Speech was the big winner, coming in with 12 nominations and walking out with four big wins, including best pict<br><br> <br>The pet peeves I have include people that just wouldn't stay dead. We're talking getting battered with a big fire extinguisher multiple times with enough force that would turn a skull into pudding. The only explanation might be that due to the effects of the signal, these people weren't really still moving, getting up, etc., but that those in the room just imagined it. The other thing that bothered me was how our hero seemed to be able to fight off the effects of the signal despite exposure. This was never really explained to my satisfact<br><br> <br>They get it done in the nick of time and as it turns out she and the gang-banger friends of the young man living in her home like it as well. Jerry, Mike and a young lady (Melonie Diaz) they rope into working with them also do a version of Rush Hour 2 (no doubt better than the original) - word gets out and soon people are lining up to get their homemade versions of popular mov<br><br> <br>Jack Black stars as Jerry, a uneducated slacker with big dreams who lives in a trailer. He's pals with Mike (played by Mos Def), a low-key guy without any big aspirations who works at one of the last few VHS video rental stores left in New Jer<br><br> <br>Jakes Gyllenhaal said it best this evening, pointing out that it would be the shorts that make or break our Oscar Pools. I am usually able to get half of them right by watching them and picking favorites but this year I got them all wrong. Amongst the big categories there were few surprises though, outside of Tom Hooper ( The King's Speech ) beating out David Fincher ( The Social Network ) for achievement in directing. But hey, Chris Nolan wasn't even nominated for Inception so without further <br><br> <br>What follows is a funny as hell flurry of improvisational filmmaking, as they wrap themselves in tin foil, use vacuum cleaners and hoses for the Ghostbuster backpacks and tinsel for the beams emanating from their ghost-catching devi<br><br> <br>When customers start returning videos to the store as defective, Mike discovers that the entire inventory is now useless. Mia Farrow plays an older woman who is keeping an eye on things while the owner (Danny Glover) is staying out of the picture, pretending to be out of town. She has only ever seen "chick flicks" but wants to watch Ghostbusters .
